The Fallacy of Choice

Director / Writer / Producer / Lead Actress: Me

Ella, an aspiring Colombian actress in New York, finds her world unraveling. Her boyfriend takes her for granted, his mother barely hides her disdain, and her once-promising acting career only deepens her insecurity. Surrounded by millions, she's never felt more alone, her only comfort is her dog. As emotional suppression turns into violent rage attacks, a sudden health crisis forces her to confront a devastating loss that cracks her once-unshakable faith under the weight of grief and disillusionment. The Fallacy of Choice is a visceral journey of self-liberation, exploring codependency and the illusion of choice in a world where every option demands sacrifice. Through the lens of mental health, cultural identity, and emotional neglect, this short film asks: What does it take to finally hear the voice telling you to break the cycle and save yourself?
